Letter: ‘Church mulls no weekend Mass for St. Cornelius’

It is unfortunate to read that St. Cornelius is targeted by the Archdiocese of Detroit for no weekend Mass. Being old-school Catholic, my preference is to attend Sunday Mass at a more reasonable time. 

The current 8 a.m. Sunday Mass time at St. Cornelius is not conducive to my health matters and living circumstances, and I feel it would be wise for Rev. Charles Altermatt to send out another comprehensive survey asking parishioners if they would agree to change the Sunday Mass time back to 10 a.m. 

If this were approved, then one would hope and pray St. Cornelius would attract many more Catholic parishioners to attend 10 a.m. Sunday Mass on a regular basis. 

Then, maybe, the Archdiocese of Detroit would have a change of heart in its “sweeping restructuring plan” that will benefit our local Catholic community. I know for certain this would guarantee my Sunday Mass attendance. Have a blessed day!
