Cross-country roundup: Raider, Spartan boys and girls compete at Wildcat Relays
TRI-CITY AREA — Almont collected three medal-winning efforts and Imlay City supplied two at the Mayville-based Wildcat Relays on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Colton Grzyb and Benjamin Kline, fifth in 18:11.39, provided Almont’s swiftest performance, Johnny Roland and Jamin Siewert, 11th in 19:34.27; plus Sid Davis and Mason Grzyb, 14th in 19:54.74; secured medals as well. Sebastian Hoult and Liam Bhatti, eighth with a 19:16.8 clocking, paced Imlay City that day. Will Cilk and Jared Pratt, 18th with a time of 21:21.67; placed as well.
Deegan Weiler and Jason Capling, 41st, 23:59.89; Preston Schruer and Leland Furesz, 43rd, 24:41.58; along with Robert Powell and Aaron Hill, 47th, 30:28.36; also represented the Spartans.
Almont and Imlay City girls medal twice at Wildcat Relays
The Almont and Imlay City girls’ cross country squads generated a pair of medal-winning performances each at the Mayville-based Wildcat Relays on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Melina Campbell and Taylor Stanczak, 11th with a time of 24:21.8; led Almont, Ella Tesluk and Lillian Eason, 17th in 26:00.89; provided the next best Raider showing.
Kendal Donahue and Savannah Douglas, 16th in 25:56.86; paced Imlay City. Riley Schlaufman and Paityn Edson, 18th with a 26:07.82 clocking, registered medal-winning efforts as well.
Sophia Maldonado and Melanie Villeda, 30th in 30:28.36; also competed for Imlay City.
