Donald O’Connor, 70

Donald O’Connor, age 70, of Almont, Michigan died Friday, November 14, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Donald James O’Connor was born September 24, 1955 in Lake Orion, MI. He is the son of the late John and the late Gladys (Williams) O’Connor. Don grew up in Lake Orion, MI. He was a graduate of Lake Orion High School, Class of 1973. He earned his Associate’s Degree from Oakland Community College. Don married Cynthia Lee Gidcumb on April 26, 1976 in Grand Haven, Michigan. They moved to the Almont area in the early 2000’s.

Don had been a machinist and a Fork Truck Driver at General Motors Truck & Bus Assembly for 30 years; then Owned & Operated Imlay City Auto Repair, in partnership with his son, Ryan, since 2007. Don was a ‘car-guy’; driving and restoring cars was a huge thrill; he also enjoyed hunting, camping, traveling, and having a beautiful yard.

Don is survived by his wife: Cindy O’Connor of Almont, MI; his daughter: Christie (Rocky) King of Graham, North Carolina; his son: Ryan (Laura) O’Connor of Attica, Michigan; his sister, Kathy Goss of Indiana; his brother, Jeff (Fiona) O’Connor also of Indiana. He has three grandchildren, Jacob, Bo, and Jai; five great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Van-Katia, Xayne, Jupiter, and Nova.

Don was preceded in death by: his parents, John and Gladys O’Connor; parents-in-law, Chalmer and Lotella Gidcumb; brother, Cliff O’Connor; grandchildren: Tia and Miya.

The funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at the Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Pastor Kendal DuFour, of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Imlay City officiated. A graveside service was held at Imlay Township Cemetery.
