Spartans excel at Summer Showdown

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City volleyball squad claimed a top-four showing out of a 38-team Aquinas Summer Showdown last Friday.

In pool play, Imlay City started things off with a two-game sweep of Lake City.  That was followed by a split with Big Rapids and a win against Comstock Park.

Those outcomes landed Imlay City a spot in the Gold Bracket, consisting of  the top-eight squads.

It was there Imlay City posted a quarter-final sweep against Fremont.

Imlay City squared off versus Lakeview next.  Their semifinal confrontation drew to a close with Lakeview prevailing.

Roslyn Bruman, Kaylee Brown, Lyla Russell, Kendall Jones, Allie Vermonter, Millie Craven, Evelyn Robertson, Mia Zepeda, Mia-Ann Grapentin and Bella O’Malley made Imlay City’s strong showing possible.
