Theodore “Ted” Collom, 85

Theodore “Ted” Collom, age 85, of Imlay City, Michigan died Friday, October 31, 2025 at Serene Gardens Assisted Living of Imlay City, MI. Theodore Homer Collom was born January 30, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant, MI. He is the son of the late Francis and the late Martha (Wells) Collom. Ted grew up in Waterford, MI and was a graduate of Waterford High School, Class of 1957. After high school, he attended Valparaiso College for a short time. He married Marie Vargo on July 3, 1968 in Pontiac, MI and was preceded in death by Marie on March 7, 2013. Ted married Virginia “Ginger” Miller on October 8, 2021 in Imlay City, Michigan.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam/ Cold War from 1958 to 1965. Ted worked as a banker for many local banks: Capac State Bank, Imlay City State Bank, Oxford Bank, National City Bank, and First of America Bank. He worked with the Imlay City Police Reserve and Imlay City Ambulance service. Ted was a member of the Imlay City American Legion and the Imlay City Family of Christ Lutheran Church. He was a former member of the Imlay City Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, and the Imlay City Mayor Pro Tem. Ted was a part of the Lapeer County EMS Board and the Imlay City Historical Museum. He and Ginger also led the Grief Share program in Imlay City for several years.

Ted is survived by: his wife, Ginger (Miller) Collom; daughters, Linda (Brian Brown) Atkinson of North Branch, MI and Deborah Collom of Lansing, MI. He is also survived by: his grandchildren, Kevin (Cayli Bower) Rodriguez, Holly Lang, and Aryana Atkinson.

Ted was preceded in death by: his wife, Marie Collom; brother, Gary Collom; and his parents, Francis and Martha Collom.

The funeral services will be held 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Pastor David Hoffman will be officiating.

The family will be available for visitation 1 – 5 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home with a veteran’s salute at 5:00 p.m. A burial of Ted’s cremated remains will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
