Gregory Paul Gray, 67

With heavy hearts and much regret, Gregory Paul Gray, age 67, of Dryden Township, MI, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025, at McLaren Lapeer Hospital, surrounded by his family. Greg was born on July 9, 1957, in Almont, MI. He was the son of the late C. Lewis and the late Wilma (Kalbfleisch) Gray. Greg grew up in Dryden, Michigan, and was a graduate of Dryden High School, Class of 1975. He married Cynthia Blair on September 9, 1989.

Greg followed in his father’s career path of operating and managing a successful excavation business throughout Lapeer and St. Clair counties. He started in his youth and continued in the business for years following his father’s passing. The decades of operating heavy equipment took its physical toll on Greg’s health, and he had to phase out of the family excavation business. Thereafter, he operated two other successful family ventures with his wife, including the Gray Family Tree Farm on almost 80 acres of pristine countryside land and a pet boarding business, Howl a Day Inn.

Greg was a great teammate in all capacities and was always there for others. He never left his ‘wingman’ growing up, Rick Furgerson. He enjoyed many activities, such as playing in Gus Mackers, participating in flag football, playing on softball teams, and especially bowling, earning a perfect game at Shelby Lanes. He knew the value of friendships, hard work, and being dedicated to family.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia “Cynde” Gray; daughter, Brook (Steve) Lestage of Dryden, MI; son, Brandon (Melanie) Bowman of Dryden, MI; and brother, Edmund (Dorothy) Gray of Clyde, MI. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ethan, Keenan, Logan, Trenna, Celia, Tori, and Brett. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, as they were a joy in his life.

The family is planning to hold a Celebration of Life gathering in the near future.
