Mavis Ann Roy, 74

Mavis Ann Roy, age 74, of Goodland Township, MI, died suddenly Saturday, October 5, 2024, at McLaren Flint. Mavis was born November 23, 1949, in Almont, MI. She is the daughter of the late Frank and the late Donna (Snover) Mulholland. Mavis grew up in Dryden, Michigan and was a graduate of Dryden High School, Class of 1967. She married Gary Roy on May 10, 1969, in Imlay City, Michigan.

Mavis was elected the Goodland Township Clerk in early 2000s; and she was the Goodland Township Clerk for 20+ years. She worked for Imlay City Ambulance as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Mavis was a member of Imlay City American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Lapeer County E.M.S. Board of Directors, and a member of the Dryden Historical Society.

Mavis is survived by her husband, Gary Roy of Imlay City; sons, Paul Roy of Imlay City and Jon (Kathryn) Roy of Imlay City; her sister, Janis (Donald) Pascoe of Dayton, OH; brothers, Jeffrey (Sheila) Mulholland, Dennis Mulholland and Michael Mulholland; her grandchildren, Leandra (Christopher) Miller, Faith Roy, Austin Roy, Kacey Roy, and Gabriel Roy; and great-grandson, Brooks Miller.

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Donna Mulholland, and parents-in-law, Cliff and June Roy.

The funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the North Goodland Baptist Church, 3080 N. Van Dyke, Imlay City, MI. Officiating will be Pastor John Chippewa. A graveside service will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI in the very near future.

The family will be available for visitation 2-5 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 9 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI and from 10–11 a.m. Thursday, October 10 at North Goodland Baptist Church, 3080 N. Van Dyke, Imlay City, MI.

Mavis was very active in the local American Legion Auxiliary Post 135. She was passionate about her education, the Goodland Township Library, and further educating her community’s youth. Therefore, in lieu of flowers or planting a tree, the family is asking for donations to the American Legion Auxiliary Post 135 scholarship in the name of Mavis A.
