Lester Edward LaBroski, 88

Lester Edward LaBroski, a cherished man known for his kind, loving, caring, faithful and humorous personality left us on September 4, 2024. Born on May 3, 1936, Les lived a life filled with tremendous passion and service towards others.

He is survived by his loving wife Christine; his children, Lester (Darcie), David (Laura), Paul (Jill); his grandchildren, Devin, Austin (Andrea) and Anna; his great-grandchildren, Lilly and Logan; his brother Jim; sister Barbara Mars and many family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Gladys and sister Kathy (Ron) Roediger; brother in-law CJ Mars; and sister in-law Marylou.

Les was raised in Grosse Pointe, MI in a loving family. He always had a sense of community, even as a young child. Shortly after graduating high school Les entered the plumbing profession which proved to be a long-celebrated career of 60 years as a journeyman plumber. In addition, Les was an honored part of the Army National Guard from 1958-1964. We thank him for his dedication to our country, ending his service as a Sergeant.

Proudly married to the love of his life Christine for 64 years, raising three boys, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren brought him his greatest joy in life. He was highly active in all of their lives, sharing many great experiences alongside them. Among these experiences were helping build their homes, standing as best man for his son Paul’s wedding, sharing his profession of plumbing with his son Lester, watching his son David as part of the Corvette racing team on TV, participating in Boy Scouts of America, watching his granddaughter’s soccer and volleyball games and spending time with his great-grandchildren. He was always there supporting family along the way.

His sense of community was spread to others as he entered the Boy Scouts of America. Les earned a Doctorate of Commissioner Science Award in 1992 and continued volunteering and participating within Scouts well after time with his sons and grandsons. He was celebrated by his Union Local 98 with the George Meany Award in 2018, which is presented for making a significant contribution to the youth of their community through Scouting. The Scouts awarded him the distinguished service to young people within BSA with the Silver Beaver Award in 1986. He also received one of the highest honors of leadership in Scouts, the Vigil Honor Award in 2008. His given name within Scouts was well chosen, it translates to, “Knowledgeable One, Who Teaches and Walks Alone”.

Les, a man of faith, kindness and love, will forever reside in our hearts. Dad never missed an opportunity to give a hug, give a kiss and tell someone he loved them–we ask you to do the same.

Please join us in celebrating the life of Lester “Les” Edward LaBroski. Cremation has taken place. A Celebratory Mass will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Macomb, MI. Memorial contributions in honor of Lester can be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
