Harry Andrew Lewis, 82

Harry Andrew Lewis, age 82, of Arcadia Township, passed away peacefully at home in Attica, Michigan, on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Harry was born on December 22, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Russell Edward Lewis and the late Katherine (Schafer) Lewis. He grew up on the east side of Detroit and remained a proud Michigander since 1987. He attended St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic School and was a graduate of Austin Catholic High School, Class of 1961, where he was a star linebacker on the football team. He went on to study finance at the University of Detroit, graduating in 1969.

After college, Harry began his distinguished career with Chrysler Corporation in Highland Park, Michigan. He was selected for the elite Manufacturing Financial Training Program for high-potential graduates, where he built lifelong friendships with many of his mentors and colleagues. Over the next several years, Harry held roles as budget supervisor and plant controller at various component and assembly plants, earning a reputation for his sharp financial insight and steady leadership. Even with a demanding schedule, he remained committed to camaraderie and connection -participating in Chrysler’s bowling league and Saturday morning golf outings. Recognized for his leadership, Harry was appointed controller of the high-tech Huntsville Electronics Division in Alabama. This division, known for its aerospace legacy, had transitioned to cutting-edge automotive and railway electronics. Harry thrived in this innovative environment, always fostering mutual respect between operating units and staff.

Starting in 1986, Harry rose through a series of appointed officer positions, including Assistant Controller for Manufacturing, Assistant Controller for Sales & Marketing and Executive Director of Management Information Systems. In 1994, Chrysler’s Board of Directors elected him as a Corporate Officer, appointing him Vice President of Process Management and Continuous Improvement. In 1995, he became Vice President of Financial Strategy and Planning, where he championed excellence in core financial systems.

Harry was a true pioneer in the automotive industry. In 1992, he was selected by Chrysler’s leadership to travel the globe, studying the best practices of leading manufacturers in Europe and Asia. His goal was to bring innovation back to the United States – and he did. The systems and strategies Harry helped implement remain part of modern automotive manufacturing and management to this day. After retiring from Chrysler, Harry was named President and CEO of National Tech Team, a technology services company navigating the evolving tech landscape. He led the company through pivotal years before retiring fully in 2000 to spend more time with the people and passions he loved most.

Harry was also a proud member of the Motor City Viper Owners Association, where he shared his lifelong enthusiasm for automotive design, performance, and the Chrysler legacy with fellow car lovers and friends. Harry married Daphne Jane McFarlen Lewis on June 21, 1985, in Rochester, Michigan. They shared 40 devoted years together until her passing on August 9, 2021. On March 4, 2023, Harry married Jessica Marie Chappel in Attica, Michigan, where they continued building a life full of love, laughter, and cherished companionship.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jessica Marie (Chappel) Lewis, and six sons: Harry Lewis, Jr. of Lapeer, MI; John Lewis of Attica, MI; Nicholas Lewis (and husband Adam) of Chicago, IL; Daniel Lewis (and wife Allyson) of Chicago, IL; Robert Lewis of Grand Rapids, MI; and Hunter James Jones of Attica, MI. He is also survived by his brother, Gerry Lewis (and wife Colleen) of Alpharetta, GA, and his cherished grandchildren: Elizabeth, Frank (and wife Katie), Ruby, Evie, Jack, and Georgia.

A graveside funeral service will be held the morning of August 2, 2025, at Arcadia Township Cemetery in Lum, Michigan. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Harry’s memory may direct them to: Lapeer County Deputies Association, 3231 John Conley Drive, Lapeer, MI  48446.
