Walter William Frederiksen, 94

Walter William Frederiksen, age 94 of Dryden, passed away May 29, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born November 2, 1930 in Detroit the son of Fred and Gladys (Peters) Frederiksen. He graduated from Central High School in Detroit in 1949. Walter served his country in the United States Army. He attended Michigan State University where, he received his Bachelor Degree in Accounting with a minor in Economics. Walter married his beloved wife Lillian Geraldine Kobylarz on September 14, 1957 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Detroit. After retiring from Accounting, he began working at Postal Delivery Trucking.
Walter was an athlete all of his life, playing football and baseball in high school and continued playing baseball and softball later in life. Walter also was an enthusiastic Lions and Tigers fan who enjoyed watching and sharing his love of sports with his family. He was also very passionate about horse racing, annually previewing horses ahead of the Kentucky Derby. Walter and his close friends would meet up almost every Friday night for a beer and to discuss such sporting events. They became known fondly as “The Shamrock Gang.” He had a real sweet tooth and knew every ice cream shop in the state and who had the biggest scoops. More than anything Walter loved spending time with his family. Walter was always ready to help others. He had an insatiable sense of humor and was able to look at the positive side of every situation.
Walter is survived by his loving daughters Sue Frederiksen of Dryden and Donna (Andy) David of Mt. Pleasant and daughter-in-law Jacqueline Frederiksen of Macomb; grandchildren: Dane (Sarah) Frederiksen of Roseville, Kelly (Kohl) Bechtel of Mt. Pleasant, Marie (Dustin) Burch of Mt. Pleasant, Austin Frederiksen of Macomb and Monica (Daniel) Pulver of Midland; great-grandchildren: Beau Bechtel, Blakely Bechtel, and Blair Burch. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Lillian, children Nancy Ann and Walter, and his brother Robert.
The Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 12 noon-2:00 p.m. with a Military Honors Service at 1:30 p.m. with the American Legion # 16 officiating at Muir Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, 2650 S. Van Dyke, Imlay City, MI 48444. Burial will take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
