LaDina Cain, 83

LaDina Cain, age 83, of Brown City, Michigan, died Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Marlette United Hospice Residence of Marlette, MI. LaDina Faye Whitaker was born March 3, 1942 in Caraway, Arkansas. She is the daughter of the late John and the late Mary (Hill) Whitaker. LaDina grew up and attended school in Caraway, Arkansas. Her family moved to Michigan in the mid-1960’s. She married Reuben Cain on July 27, 1966 in Almont, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben, on August 13, 2018.

LaDina was a home maker, raising her family. While raising her family, LaDina was employed as a waitress for Hilltop Lounge and Cascaddan’s Lounge. For a period of time, she was employed by TRW (a seatbelt manufacturer) in Romeo, MI.

LaDina is survived by: her sons, Doug (Michele) Hughes of Sandusky, MI, Bernie Hughes of Dayton, Tennessee and Mark (Cathy) Hughes of Mt. Morris, MI; sisters, Easter Jameson and Brenda Lachat; her brothers, Jay Whitaker, Doug Whitaker and Ken Whitaker. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shena (William) Goodell, Dillon Hughes, Cody Hughes, Riley Lewis, Reuben Lewis, Christina Jackson Pender, Samantha Lewis; six great-grandchildren: including, Clara and Lydia.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Reuben Cain; and her siblings, Ernest K. Whitaker, Betty Clay, Johnny Whitaker and Harold Whitaker.

The funeral service for LaDina was held Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Reverend John Chippewa, pastor of North Goodland Baptist Church officiated.
