Daniel James Susalla

Daniel James Susalla, Sr. age 76 a long time resident of Imlay City passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025 with his family by his side. Daniel was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, who will be deeply missed by family and friends. He was born March 29, 1948 in Parisville to the late Arthur and Mary (Zulka) Susalla. He graduated from Ubly High School. Daniel met the love of his life Linda Jandereski and they were married May 2, 1970 at Sacred Heart Church in Bad Axe.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife Linda Susalla of Imlay City, his children, Lisa (Kreg) Kapron of Almont and Daniel (Carissa) Susalla of Plainfield, Indiana, and his cherished grandchildren, Chase (fiancé Mackenzie Buslepp) Kapron, Blake Kapron, Daniel Susalla III, and Gavin Susalla. His siblings, Larry (Sharon) Susalla, Mary Jane Lawrence, Randy (Joyce) Susalla, Harley (Debbie) Susalla, Marlene Calverley, Kerry Susalla, Dennis Susalla, Carol (Dennis) Essenmacher; sister-in-law Tammy (Darrell) Jarrell, brother-in-law Gary (Brenda) Jandereski and many nieces and nephews.
Daniel is predeceased by his grandson Mason Kapron, his brother-in-laws Kenny Lawrence and Mike Calverley, his sister-in-laws Lorraine Susalla and Sally Jandereski.
Daniel worked for forty plus years in construction and demolition most of which was with the Adamo Demolition Company as a Superintendent. He really enjoyed operating large equipment and machinery so much that he bought his own backhoe for personal use. He enjoyed being outdoors whether working in his yard or simply enjoying the beauty around him. He was an avid casino enthusiast, often spending time enjoying games of chance. He had a deep appreciation for nature, especially bird watching and feeding. But most of all Daniel loved spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren.
Daniel’s kind heart, love for life and unwavering devotion to his family will always be remembered. He was a man who truly made the world a better place, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. with the Celebration of Life Service held at 6:00 p.m. all at Muir Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, 2650 S. Van Dyke-Imlay City, MI 48444.
