Dolores Diaz, 90

Dolores Diaz, age 90, of Imlay City, Michigan died Friday, February 28, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Dolores Rendon was born March 24, 1934 in Waco, Texas. She is the daughter of the late Pedro and the late Reyes (Nunez) Rendon. Her family moved to Capac from Detroit. She was a graduate of Capac High School. She married Armando Diaz in 1960 at Winnebago, Minnesota. Dolores and Armando moved to Imlay City in 1964.

Dolores is survived by: her husband of 64 years, Armando Diaz of Imlay City; her children, Elizabeth Diaz, Christino Diaz, Lydia (Paul) Saunders, Lucia Diaz, Jessie Sanchez, Armando (Karen) Diaz and Michael Diaz; fourteen (14) grandchildren, sixteen (16) great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Dolores was preceded in death by: her parents, Pedro and Reyes Rendon; her siblings, Lupe Gutierrez, Mike Rendon, Tencha Ramos, Sara Villa, Carpohora Rendon, Sylveria Rendon, Modesta Rodriguez, Gloria Rendon, Pete Rendon, Betty Orsini and Nicolas Rendon; and a grandson, David. Dolores was also preceded in death by many nieces and nephews.

Dolores, as a child, worked with her family, farming. As she got older, she also helped her mother care for her nieces and nephews. Dolores was a ‘live model’ at Hudson’s Department Store in Detroit in the late 1950’s. Later in life, she was employed at Vlasics Foods in Imlay City where she worked in many different jobs over the 40 years of employment. She retired in 2011.

Dolores was a devoted Catholic and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church In Imlay City until she no longer was able to attend due to her failing health. Dolores was the mother of seven children that she loved tremendously. She really loved family celebrations and spending time with her family members. She was always a very loving and giving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. She will continue to live on through all of her children.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 700 Maple Vista, Imlay City, MI. The Rev. Fr. Charles Altermatt will officiate. Burial will follow in Imlay Township Cemetery.

The family will be available for visitation 2 – 5 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, March 6th at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI and from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 7th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 700 Maple Vista, Imlay City, MI.
