Richard Wilson Muir, 91

In Loving Memory of Richard Wilson Muir, age 91, a lifelong resident of Almont, Michigan, passed away on January 31, 2025, at Stonegate Health Campus in Lapeer. Born in Almont, Michigan on November 27, 1935, Richard Muir lived a life marked by compassion, generosity, and deep love for family and friends.

Richard Muir was a lifetime farmer on the Muir Family farm and a proud member of thirty-five years with the Michigan Milk Producers Association. He was a strong supporter of the local county fairs and festivals. He liked nothing better than visiting the Armada Flea Market and visiting with the local vendors. He also made it a point to always try to attend the Armada County Fair and the 4th of July parade in North Branch whenever possible.

He liked nothing better than sharing the joys of farm life with his many nieces and nephews and others. “Uncle Richard” was always willing to share the tractor seat with excited youngsters so they could help “drive” down the field; knew where to find the latest batch of barn kittens to see and was patiently willing to let eager young helpers feed the newest calf. He was always willing to help anyone whenever he could, expecting nothing in return. He enjoyed hearing about what his extended family was doing, especially his nieces and nephews and their children. He was a fan of old westerns on TV and the National Geographic magazine and for most of his life was an avid reader of local newspapers and various agricultural publications. He will be deeply missed by both family and friends.

Richard Muir’s legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and love. He leaves behind a community enriched by his quiet presence.

Richard Muir is survived by his three brothers, Robert (Judith) Muir, Max Muir and Thomas Muir as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family who will cherish their memories.

He was predeceased in death by his parents, Thomas Lee and Harriet Muir, sister, Margaret Muir, sister-in-law, Lavonda (Max) Muir, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jane and Joseph Geiser, Winnie and Harry Perrin, Rachel and Arnold Broecker, brothers, George and James Muir and his two nephews, Dean Geiser and John Broecker.

A graveside service to honor Richard Wilson Muir will be held later in the year, the date to be determined.

All arrangements are being handled by the Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City, Michigan.

Donations in his name may be made to the Stonegate Health Campus in Lapeer, Michigan, whose dedicated caretakers and staff provided compassionate care with respect and friendship.

Though Richard Muir has departed, his spirit remains in the hearts of all who knew and loved him and will never be forgotten.
