Charlotte Copp Diehl, 88

Charlotte Copp Diehl, age 88, most recently of Lum, MI (formerly of Imlay City, MI & Florida) died Friday, October 18, 2024, at Stonegate Health Campus in Lapeer, MI. Charlotte Fay Campau was born March 25, 1936, in Mt. Clemens, MI. She is the daughter of the late Alfred J. Campau Sr. and the late Myrtle E. (Severance) Campau. Charlotte grew up in Mt. Clemens, MI. She is a graduate of Mt. Clemens High School, class of 1954. She moved to Attica, MI in 1969 and to Imlay City in 1982. She married Harry C. Diehl on May 30, 1997, in Lapeer, MI. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, on July 3, 2019.

Charlotte began her business career while still in high school, working as a cashier at S.S. Kresge in Mt. Clemens. Upon graduating, she worked as a finance officer and notary public for City Finance Company in Mt. Clemens. Charlotte then put her career on hold in order to raise a family.

Charlotte re-entered the work force in 1977, working for the 71st District Court in Lapeer, Michigan. She met her husband Harry, then District Court Magistrate in Imlay City, MI, when she was assigned to work as Assistant Magistrate in that office. She retired from the 71st District Court in Lapeer as a Senior District Court Clerk in 1996.

Charlotte was a proud member of the Imlay City Community Choir for many years. She was an accomplished organist, in her younger years she enjoyed horseback riding, and her love of horses continued throughout her life. Her biggest passions were spending time with her family and strengthening her faith in the Lord by studying and sharing her knowledge of the scriptures.

She is survived by her children, David (April) Copp of Wolverine, MI, Karen (Brian) Keena of Providence Forge, VA, Michael (Debra) Copp of Indian River, MI, Paulette (Alan) Stearns of Sarasota, FL and Timothy Copp of Lum, MI; and her grandchildren, Nicole (Gill) Beck, Elizabeth (Tim) Pierce, Roger Smirlis, Connor (Rachel) Copp, Brianna Keena, Jonathan Copp, and Kallisti Stearns, great-grandchildren Jayda Gignac, Landon Beck, Maddox Pierce and Caleb Beck.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Diehl; her parents, Alfred J. Campau Sr. and Myrtle E. Campau; and her brother, Alfred J. Campau, Jr.

The family is planning a memorial service in the Spring of 2025.
