Ronald Allen Houston, 78

Ronald Allen Houston, 78, of Lexington, passed away on Friday, October 11 at McLaren Hospital Port Huron.

He was born June 20, 1946, in Detroit son of the late Stewart and Marie (Gregory) Houston. He married his loving wife, Dorothy Jeane Tipton on July 30, 1970. The beloved brother of Roberta, father of Ian (Cindy), Seth and Kaitlyn (Taylor) and grandfather of Keira, Liam, Conlan, Aine, Moira and Samantha, as well as his extended family of cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.

His early years were spent in Birmingham, MI. The family moved to the Dryden area when he was around 10 and ran a dairy farm until he left for college. He recently enjoyed celebrating his 60th reunion with his classmates from Almont High School. He attended Michigan State University. He very proud of his service in the Marine Corp. often saying it was the best job he ever had. He was also proud of being a member of Mensa.

He was a journeyman jig, fixture and tool builder, a display and cabinet maker and later a quality engineer contracted with GM. He loved farming, wood working, sailing and music.

He and Jeane lived in Lansing for several years before moving to a farm in the St. Johns area. They moved back to Troy when the kids were in high school and retired to Lexington in 2006. As a member of the Bluewater Folk Society, he loved volunteering at Thumbfest. For several years he enjoyed writing for the Opinion column of the Sanilac County News.

The family will be celebrating his life at a future date.
