Elaine Thayer, 87

Elaine Thayer, age 87, of Attica, MI died Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Stonegate Health Campus of Lapeer, MI. Elaine Edna Stern was born April 9, 1937. She is the daughter of the late Edward and the late Frances (Stolt) Stern. Elaine grew up in Goodrich Township, MI before moving with her family to Imlay City, MI. She is a graduate of Imlay City High School, Class of 1956. She married Jack Hillman on October 12, 1956 in Imlay City, MI. Jack preceded her in death June 4, 1985. She married James “Jim” Thayer on January 11, 1991, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jim recently passed away on April 29, 2024.

She was employed as a Loan Agent for UDE Credit Union for many years before becoming employed as a Loan Agent by Oliver Credit Union in both Imlay City and Lapeer. Elaine was a lifetime member of the Imlay City VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 2492. She enjoyed going to the casinos, fishing and hunting with her husband Jim, and was an avid Currier & Ives collector. Elaine and Jim were snowbirds, traveling to Florida during the winter months.

She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline (Donald) Meyer of Portage; step sons, Richard (Danielle) Thayer of Goodrich, MI and Randall (Marsha) Thayer of Tennessee; her sisters, Margaret Stern and Linda Stern; granddaughters, Sarah (Kevin) Paternoster, Rachel (Kevin) Wonders and Hannah Meyer; and her great-grandson, Henry Allen Wonders.

The Funeral Service will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Deacon Wes Davis will officiate. Interment will follow at Imlay Township Cemetery.

The family will be available for visitation 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday, October 2 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
