Shuri Lynn Havens, 73

Shuri Lynn Havens, 73, of Lapeer, formerly of Dryden, passed away surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. She was born December 3, 1950, to parents Rex and Thelma (Hoopengarner) Amon.

Shuri, who went by Lynn, graduated from Dryden High School in 1969 and married John Lee Havens that same year. To call them high school sweethearts would be an understatement. It was love at first sight, John said, thinking of the time they met when they were just kids. For 55 years of marriage–most of which was spent in Dryden–they took on every day with the approach of “we” and not “I.” Lynn enjoyed Harley’s with her husband, notably riding from downtown Dryden to Yellowstone National Park.

Lynn loved being a parent to her two kids. She was caring and supportive, going to all their volleyball games and teaching them values along the way like honesty, kindness and love. She was a rock to a lot of people and the best there was, her daughter Jennifer said. She will be missed deeply.

Lynn is survived by her beloved husband, John; her two children, Jessica (Aaron) Plumb, of Florida, and Jennifer (Tim) Murley, of Grand Blanc. She is survived as well by four grandchildren, including Nathan (Karly) Plumb, Jonah Plumb, Gwenyth Plumb and Joshua (Kenzie) Spivy; and one great-grandchild, Lennon Spivy. She’s also survived by two sisters, LuAnn Reah and Lana Kent.

Lynn is preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Amon and Lonnie Amon, and her aforementioned parents.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer.

Lynn will be buried at Dryden Center Cemetery, which nestles right up to John’s old family farm.

A celebration of life gathering to honor Lynn has been scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2024, beginning at 1 p.m. at Dryden Veterans Hall, located at 4223 S. Mill Rd., Dryden, MI 48428. The family wants everyone to be comfortable and casual.
