Billy Blue, 74

Billy Blue, age 74, of Imlay City died Tuesday, August 20, 2024 in Royal Oak, MI. Billy Ray Blue was born April 27, 1950 in Lumber Bridge, North Carolina. He is the son of the late Evander and the late Janie (McFall) Blue. Billy grew up in Lumber Bridge, NC and was a graduate from Magnolia High School in Lumberton, NC. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1971. Billy moved to Michigan in 1972 and married Carol Marie Scherf on February 23, 1973 in East Detroit, Michigan.
He was employed by the Operating Engineer’s Union Local 324 as a foreman and heavy equipment operator. Billy performed residential, commercial, and road construction. He spent his life serving His Lord and Savior. Billy was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was involved in the prayer group there. He enjoyed many activities including pickle ball, volleyball, and Euchre. Billy was known for being a jokester.
Billy is survived by: his wife, Carol Marie Blue; daughter, Jenny Marie (Rick) Gordon of Royal Oak, MI; his son, Leander Ray (Heather) Blue of Cleveland, TN; and sisters, Betty (Proctor) Locklear of Parkton, NC and Frances (Bobby) Lowery of Lumber Bridge, NC. He is also survived by: his grandchildren, Arcadia Marie Gordon, Billy Gordon, Shawn (Emily) Blue, Grace Marie Blue, Gabriel Blue, Maria Blue, Jackson Blue, Max Blue, Lewis Blue; and several nieces and nephews. Billy was preceded in death by: his parents, Evander & Janie Blue; brothers, Harvey Blue, William Ander Blue, and Clayton Blue; and his sister, Christine Chavis.
The funeral services were held Friday, August 23, 2024 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI 48444. Pastor Jeremy Dahlquist of New Hope Baptist Church officiated. A Veteran’s Final Salute will took place Thursday, August 22nd.
A Funeral Service will took place on Tuesday, August 27 at Boles Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Blue Family Cemetery in Shannon, North Carolina.
Arrangements were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
