Imlay City Theater students prep Performing Arts Center ahead of busy season

IMLAY CITY — Before taking the stage for a new season of productions, local theater students at Imlay City Schools spent one of their final days of summer break working behind the scenes to prepare the district’s venue for the upcoming academic year.

Eighteen middle and high school students, alongside parent booster volunteers, joined Performing Arts Center Directors Don and Rebecca Brewer for a seven-hour cleanup and organization effort at the center.

Volunteers spent the day sorting, labeling, and resetting key production areas throughout the facility. Tasks included reorganizing the scene shop, sorting storage equipment, and categorizing the theater’s inventory of costumes, shoes, wigs, and props.

“Before we could start a new year of making theatre, we had to tackle the not-so-glamorous part: getting everything organized,” the Brewers said in a statement, expressing gratitude for the volunteers who helped ready the facility. “This kind of work is what makes everything that happens on the stage possible.”
