Chiefs fall to Potterville in football season opener

CAPAC — Capac absorbed a 44-8 loss to visiting Potterville in a non-league varsity football contest last Friday night.

With the decision, Potterville moves to 1-0 this season. Capac falls to 0-1 overall.

In Friday’s contest, Capac and Potterville wrapped up the initial quarter with zero points each. Quarter two would see Potterville amass 24 points and Capac manage eight. When the action resumed, Potterville picked up where it left off. Aided by a 12-0 third quarter edge, they increased their cushion to 36-8. Potterville then outscored Capac 8-0 from that point on, closing out a 44-8 win.

Capac produced their eight-point total aided by a 39-yard touchdown run by Preston Vamvas and a PAT tote by Vamvas.

In defeat, the Capac defense registered a pair of takeaways. Connor Powers and Dominic Edwards (a fumble recovery apiece) provided those. Kaleb Pietrzak added a blocked extra point kick to Capac’s cause.

Capac will look to bounce back this Thursday when it travels to Mayville. That clash is slated to get underway at 7 p.m.
