Donations sought for Lapeer County Community Foundation

TRI-CITY AREA — As autumn approaches, the Lapeer County Community Foundation is encouraging local residents to begin early strategic planning for year-end charitable giving, milestone-based philanthropy, and multi-generational estate plans.

Foundation leaders recommend evaluating charitable goals ahead of the busy holiday season to maximize community impact and optimize tax benefits. Strategy discussions include concepts like “bunching” charitable contributions and utilizing donor-advised funds to organize long-term philanthropy.

Beyond seasonal giving, the foundation works with individuals navigating major financial transitions — such as selling a business, retiring, or receiving an inheritance — to structure charitable plans that align financial milestones with community needs. Foundation officials are also guiding local families through the ongoing “Great Wealth Transfer,” helping donors incorporate shared philanthropic values into legacy estate planning.

Local scholarship funds continue to support area educators, including new Imlay City teaching staff member Tessa, while the foundation’s Women’s Fund continues to grant funding for local quality-of-life programs and non-tuition assistance for women enrolled at Mott Community College.
