Luis Rosario Garcia, 77

Luis Rosario Garcia, age 77, recently of Yale, Michigan died Friday, June 12, 2026 at McLaren Port Huron. Luis Rosario Garcia was born June 21, 1948 in Caguas, Puerto Rico. He is the son of the late Cirilo and the late Canta (Garcia) Rosario. Luis grew up in Puerto Rico. He married Rosa Ocasio Colon on May 9, 1984 in Puerto Rico. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa on June 29, 2018. Luis lived most of his life in the Imlay City, Michigan area.

He worked as a general laborer for Dryden Mushroom Farms for several years and continued working for local landscapers. Luis enjoyed gardening, especially planting flowers and vegetables. He was a member of Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal M.I. – ‘La Senda Antigua’ in Imlay City, MI.

Luis is survived by: his daughters, Damarie Melendez Ocasio and Luz Melendez Ocasio of Imlay City, MI; son, Richard Melendez Ocasio; and his brothers, Cabad Diaz, Lorenzo Fonseca, Juan Fonseca, Jesus Fonseca and Cirilo Forseca. He is also survived by: his grandchildren, Elimarie, Daramis, Julian, Kenia, Bridnely, Jovanny, Jonathan, Marangeliz, Marcelo, Nick, Alexis, Haydeliz, and Jacob. Luis was preceded in death by: his wife, Rosa Ocasio Colon; and son, Marcelo Melendez Ocasio.

The funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at Iglesia De Dios Pentecostal M.I. ‘La Senda Antigua’, 117 N. Almont Avenue, Imlay City, MI with Rev. Anthony Colon officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
