Richard “Dick” Lauwers, age 92, of Imlay City, Michigan died Thursday, July 2, 2026 at The Orchards of Armada in Armada, MI.  Richard Victor Lauwers was born June 27, 1934 in Detroit, MI. He is the son of the late Victor and the late Mary (Lybeer) Lauwers. Dick grew up in Capac, MI. He was a graduate of Capac High School, Class of 1952.  He married Carol Campbell on May 2, 1959 in Allenton, Michigan.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, on September 18, 2003. Dick married Mary Lou (Duquette) Spiller August 2005.

He was a Self - Employed Dairy and Crop Farmer. Dick was co-owner of Eastern Michigan Grain in Emmett, MI.

Dick was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City, MI, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Allenton, MI and Knights of Columbus-Our Lady Queen of Peace where he was a “Singing Knight” for 20 years.

He served as a Lapeer County Commissioner for a period of time and on Capac High School Board in the late 1990's, Farm Bureau Board, Mussey Township Board, Farm Service Agency Board, MMPA Board, and on the Federal Land Bank Board. Dick was a Michigan Distinguished Master Farmer.

Dick is survived by: his wife, Mary Lou Lauwers of Gross Pointe Woods, MI; children, Mark (Chris) Lauwers of Almont, MI, Mike (Stacey) Lauwers of Capac, MI, Dan (Kellie) Lauwers of Yale, MI, Cathrine (Brian) Schriber of Caro, MI and Anne (Tom) Leen of Fairgrove, MI; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He is also survived by:  his sisters, Margie Matovina and Catherine Skwirsk; brother-in-law, Joe Mouthaan; and Mary Lou's children, Diane Klug of Lapeer, MI, Tim (Carla) Spiller of Yale, MI, Randy (Jenny) Spiller of Yale, MI, Connie (Carl) Crawford of Lum, MI and Kristi (Edward) Donnellon of Grosse Pointe Park, MI.

He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Carol Lauwers; parents, Victor and Mary Lauwers; his sister, Barbara Mouthaan; brothers-in-law, Mark Matovina and Carl Skwirsk; half-brothers, Robert Lauwers and Larry Lauwers; Mary Lou's first husband, Al Spiller; and her son, Steve Spiller.

The funeral will be held 11:00 a,m,, Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 883 Capac Road, Allenton, MI.  Reverend Fr. Mike Gawlowski, pastor of St. John the Evangelist, will officiate. Interment will follow at West Berlin Cemetery.
