Evelyn Rosalie Farkas, 87

Evelyn Rosalie Farkas, age 87, of Lapeer, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 6, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of John and Vera Wyne. Evelyn graduated from Allen Park High School in 1956. She met the love of her life, Bob Farkas, and the two were united in marriage in January of 1960 in Detroit. Together, they shared a devoted and loving partnership for many years.

Evelyn and her husband proudly owned and operated Amazing Grace Christian Bookstore and were self employed for over 50 years, serving their community with faith and dedication.

Faith was the cornerstone of Evelyn’s life. She was a former member of Dryden Wesleyan Church and most recently attended Heritage Church of Imlay City.

Evelyn cherished time spent with her family above all else. She was a devoted homemaker who expressed her love through cooking hearty, traditional meals. She enjoyed tending to her garden, especially her wildflowers, and found joy in collecting dolls, including baby dolls and Precious Moments figurines. Evelyn had a tender heart for animals, often taking in strays, and loved watching the birds around her home. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Evelyn is survived by her loving husband Bob of Lapeer, her children: Lynne Farkas of Attica, Rick (Debbie) Farkas of Imlay City and Rod (Robin) Farkas of Rochester, also by her grand-children: Candice (Jeremy) McLain, Mandy (Addam) Elwert, Brandon Farkas, Andrew Farkas, Andrea Farkas, and Monica Flores. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Roy, Bob, Don and Carol and also by her grandson Matt Vanderploeg.
