Family Literacy Center offers programs

LAPEER CO. — Family Literacy Center and Lapeer District Library have teamed up to bring you a variety of programs. They are free to attend. Please register in advance!

Family Playgroups

Playgroups are back! Playgroups are designed for families with children 5 and under. Sessions include story time, crafts, music, and more! It is a great opportunity to meet other families with children the same age and make new friends. The Winter sessions are:

• Tuesdays from 10:00-11:30 a.m. on February 18th, 25th and March 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th.

Location: Marguerite deAngeli Library, 921 W. Nepessing Street, Lapeer

Math Game Nights

Join us for Math Game Nights! Math Game Nights are for kids from kindergarten through 5th grade and their parents. This program offers a range of activities that focus on building math skills, problem-solving, and logic in a fun setting.

Next up is our Leprechaun Luck Math. Play the Leprechaun’s Luck Probability game. Take your Lucky Charms to the Shamrock Races. Who will find the pot of gold? Maybe you!

• Leprechaun Luck Math, March 11th, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Child Tutoring

For those who signed up for the Winter Session of Child Tutoring, the schedule is as follows:

• Tuesdays from 5:00-6:30 p.m. on January 7th, 14th, and 28th; February 4th, 11th and 18th

ESL English Conversation Class

Join our English Conversation Class at the Family Literacy Center. We will focus on English speaking and listening skills. Perfect for all English learner levels. Everyone’s welcome!

Volunteers Needed

Looking for something meaningful to do with your time? Volunteer with the Family Literacy Center! The office has many different volunteer jobs available. Here’s how.

• Fill out an application and return to Family Literacy Center.
• Attend volunteer orientation and training .
• Make a difference!

Adult One-to-One Tutoring

Are you an adult working towards your GED? Do you want to improve your reading and math skills? The Family Literacy Center can help with our one-to-one tutoring.

• Services offered free of charge.
• We can help you get your GED test for free.
• We also offer English as a Second Language (ESL) tutoring.
