BREAKING NEWS – Water Service Material Verification Project

Notice: A contractor for the City will soon begin a Water Service Material Verification project, which will last a few weeks. The project will take place in the areas of S. Almont Ave., W. First St., Handley St., Pine St., W. Fourth St., Fifth St., and Sixth St. Residents in these areas will notice utility flags marking utility lines, and when the project begins Vac trucks and other miscellaneous equipment. Door hangers will be placed on doors of property’s that work will take place at. Generally, a day or two before the work begins. There is no action required by the customer and your water service will not be interrupted during the verification. The Vac truck will be hydro excavating on both sides of the customers curb box (typically between the curb and sidewalk) to verify the customers water service material. The excavation will be filled in and any permanent restoration will be completed soon after. Customers that are verified to have a lead service line will be notified soon after. If the water service is copper or plastic the customer will not be notified. The City still has approximately 150 water services to verify. Once the verification process is complete the City will finalize plans to replace all lead service lines in the system. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the DPW at (810) 724-8712. Thank you for your cooperation and we apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
