Dryden prevails 52-0 on homecoming night
DRYDEN — Dryden football celebrated its homecoming with a 52-0 triumph against Mayville in a Big Thumb Conference Blue Division clash last Friday night.
With the outcome, Dryden goes to 4-0 and 2-0. Mayville falls to 1-3 and 0-2.
“We played a physical game and I was glad our seniors got the win on their homecoming night,’” Dryden Coach Hunter Gall said. “Mayville is always well coached and they play a tough brand of football.”
The triumphant Dryden side generated their 52-point total aided by a Gianni Coscione one-yard touchdown run (followed by an Adam Cooper PAT tote); a Coscione 15-yard touchdown run (followed by a Brady Schneider to Santiago Perales PAT pass); a Coscione 59-yard touchdown run (followed by a Coscione PAT tote); a Coscione to Schneider 32-yard touchdown pass; a Coscione to Perales 11-yard touchdown pass (followed by a Cooper PAT tote); a Schneider to Perales 27-yard touchdown pass (followed by a Quinton Towell PAT tote); and a Logan Korth 68-yard touchdown run.
For the evening, Coscione completed seven of 11 pass plays for 125 yards as Dryden’s quarterback.
Schneider was the other Dryden player who opted to air out the football. His attempt went for a 27-yard completion.
Dryden had three different players collect receptions. Their ranks consisted of Perales (five catches for 106 yards), Schneider (two receptions for 41 yards) and Luke Taylor (one catch for 15 yards).
The Dryden ground attack managed 310 yards on 21 totes,
Coscione (seven rushes for 97 yards), Schneider (six carries for 93 yards) and Korth (two rushes for 85 yards) proved Dryden’s toughest players to stop. The remaining six Cardinal totes netted a combined 35-yard gain.
A group consisting of Coscione (13), Schneider (10) and Callum Brown (eight) contributed the highest Dryden’s tackle totals. Josh Adams (six stops) made his presence felt as well.
The Dryden defense also registered two takeaways. Towell (an interception) and Korth (a recovery) furnished those.
Dryden will look to keep its perfect record intact when it hosts Deckerville (4-0, 2-0) in a Big Thumb Conference Blue Division showdown this Friday. That matchup lists a 7 p.m. starting time.
