Reader questions motives of U.S. Congresswoman
Dear Congresswoman McClain, Last night, I saw on television a short clip of Pres. Trump talking about the rise in the inflation rate to 4.2% annual.
In answering the WH reporter’s question, Pres. Trump stated specifically, “You know what I really love, I love the inflation”.
I found this to be such an outlandish and unthoughtful answer from our sitting US president, especially when so many families in Mi-09 are struggling to pay their household bills and face dreadfully high gasoline prices.
What I also found very peculiar was your presence standing to the left of Pres. Trump wearing a massive, 5 carat diamond ring. It just sent the wrong message to Mi-09 constituents.
One gets the feeling that you are much more interested in gleaning photo ops vs. helping the hard working moms and dads trying to make ends meet in Mi-09.
Whenever I see you standing proud next to either Pres. Trump or US House Speaker Johnson, I always ask myself: what have you done lately to better the financial conditions of Mi-09 constituents?
May I suggest a more prosperous occupation would be doing catalogue modeling to display your Marie Antoinette inspired choice of ring jewelry.
Reason being, as an Oakland University undergraduate student back in 1998, when the new O’rena was opening, I sat on the OU Student Lecture Committee, and I suggested that former V.P. Dan Quayle be the first formal invitee to speak at the new OU O’rena.
My OU student lecture committee colleagues agreed, and the former US Vice President accepted our invitation. It was an honored and memorable moment in Oakland University history.
But, the more important point I want to convey is that, prior to Mr. Quayle’s appearance, my Oakland University Political Science professor John Kelly explained to our class how visual effects can negatively taint an elected official’s well-honed political reputation.
Prof. Kelly, a 4-term Michigan State Senator, specifically explained to our class that he had knowledge Mr. Quayle would never want to present himself in the public eye as an elitist, and, most definitely, he would not want our OU Lecture Committee to have him picked up at the DTW airport in a fancy black limousine.
As a constituent of Mi-09, what I’m candidly trying to convey is the age-old adage that a picture in worth a thousand words.
The five carat diamond ring that you are wearing while standing next to Pres. Trump, is a display of elitism. And, quite frankly, it is tone deaf.
Please understand that many Mi-09 constituents are financially struggling, and seeing their US Congresswoman wearing a massive 5 carat diamond ring doesn’t cut the cake for them.
One also cannot help to wonder how many tens-of-thousands of dollars is your outrageously flawless diamond ring worth? One can bet that it is certainly out of financial reach for a majority of Mi-09 constituents.
Respectfully,
