Dryden completes perfect regular season, playoffs up next
DRYDEN — Dryden handed host North Huron a 44-14 setback in a non-league varsity football confrontation last Friday night. With the outcome, Dryden wraps up a 9-0 regular season run while North Huron finishes at 7-2.
“We played a physical game up front and executed well,” Dryden Coach Hunter Gall commented. “Everyone is healthy and we are getting back to work for the playoffs,” he noted.
Dryden produced its 44-point total aided by a Gianni Coscione 36-yard touchdown run; a Brady Schneider 3-yard touchdown run (followed by a Coscione PAT tote); a Coscione 2-yard touchdown run (followed by a Schneider PAT tote); a Coscione to Santiago Perales 67-yard touchdown pass (followed by an Adam Cooper PAT tote); a Coscione 54-yard touchdown run (followed by a Logan Korth PAT tote); and a Korth 82-yard touchdown run.
For the night, Coscione completed six of nine pass plays for 141 yards as Dryden’s quarterback.
His successful tosses were distributed to two different targets: Perales (five catches for 114 yards) and Schneider (one reception for 27 yards).
The Dryden ground attack managed 262 yards on 18 totes. Coscione (10 rushes for 128 yards), Korth (82 yards on one tote) and Schneider (five rushes for 45 yards) proved Dryden’s toughest players to stop. The remaining two Cardinal totes netted a combined 10-yard gain. Coscione (13), Callum Brown (12) and Schneider (10) contributed the top Dryden tackle outputs. Quinton Towell (seven stops), Luke Taylor and Tyler Roberts (six tackles each) and Korth (five tackles) made their presence felt as well.
Dryden will look to continue its winning ways Friday when Kingston (5-4) visits for an eight-player Division 1 playoff game set to begin at 7 p.m.
