William H. Patow, 89

William H. Patow, known lovingly to family and friends as Bill, passed away on May 14, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on July 29, 1936, he lived a long and full life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a spirited love of the simple pleasures that made each day meaningful.

Bill was a loving, spirited, and generous man whose presence brought warmth and steadiness to those around him. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine, and together they shared a life built on commitment, resilience, and deep affection. He was a proud father to Laurie (Rodger) Chateauvert, Jeanie Asbury, Edward (Lesley) Patow, and Elda (John) Neville. He also held a special place in his heart for his siblings, Ruth (Josef) Martinu. Bill was blessed with a large and growing family that brought him great joy, including 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gladys Patow, his daughter Susan, his sons-in-law Mark and Randy, grandchildren: Keith and Brent, Siblings: Robert, Agnes, Charles. Their memories remained an important part of his life, and he carried his family history with quiet strength and pride. Bill understood the value of family ties and the comfort of shared memories, and he leaves behind a legacy that will continue through the generations who loved him.

Bill retired from Ford Proving Grounds in 1996 after a long career of dedication and dependable service. He was known as a jack of all trades, someone who could turn his hand to many tasks and take pride in doing them well. His practical nature and willingness to help were part of what made him so respected by those who knew him. He approached work and life with a steady hand and a can-do spirit that reflected his character. He was also a member of the Columbiaville United Methodist Church.

Outside of work, Bill found joy in the activities that kept him close to the outdoors and to the rhythms of everyday life. He enjoyed driving his buggy on trails, camping, mowing the yard, and watching his farm shows. He also had a knack for shooting critters in the yard, a pastime that reflected both his resourcefulness and his connection to the land around him. These interests were more than hobbies, as they were part of the life he loved and the way he spent his time with purpose and enjoyment.

Funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Jansen Family Funeral Home – Columbiaville. Pastor Esther Irish officiated. Bill was laid to rest at Imlay Twp. Cemetery.
