Kathleen Vera Worden, 98

Kathleen Vera Worden, age 98, of Capac passed away Monday, May 4, 2026, at Orchard Grove Assisted Living in Romeo with loving family by her side.

She was born in Columbiaville, Michigan on November 1, 1927, the daughter of the late John and Eva (Morrison) Gallagher. Kathleen was a 1945 graduate of Yale High School. Her marriage to Edward Worden was in 1946. They were married for 51 years before his passing January 23, 1998. Together they raised six children.

Kathleen dedicated 17 years of service as a secretary for Capac Community Schools, where she was known for her kindness, organization, and unwavering commitment to students and staff. She retired in 1993, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and care. She also served her community as an elected clerk for Berlin Township. Kathleen was an active member of the Berlin Township Senior Citizens, the Capac Senior Center, and the Capac Historical Society. She generously gave her time as both a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, touching the lives of many young people in her community. She was also a devoted member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Allenton. In her free time, she enjoyed playing the piano and organ, as well as sewing, knitting, ceramics, reading, baking, cooking, and tending to her flowers and garden.

Surviving are five children, Kathleen (Don) Messacar of Metamora, Illinois, John (Shirley) Worden of Peoria, Arizona, William M. (Eileen) Worden of Grand Ledge, Joseph G. (Lorrie) Worden of Allenton, and Theresa (James) Lemerand of Holland; seventeen grandchildren, Sharyl (David) Boroff, Melissa (Scott) Maxfield, Michelle Darsidan, Michael (Amy) Messacar, Renee (Eric) Schaumburg, John (April) Worden II, Christina (Tristan) Jones, Matthew (Astin) Worden, William J. (Amy) Worden, Kathryn (Chase) Dzingleski, Joseph P. Worden, Daniel (Lindsay) Worden, Elizabeth (Dominic) Crosson, Nicholas (Hope) Lemerand, and Andrew (Brandy) Lemerand, Daniella (Hunter) Morley and Tyler Lemerand; 17 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Kathleen is predeceased by a daughter and son in-law, Carolyn (Joseph) Biondo of Capac; siblings, Clarence Peabody, Bruce Gallagher, Laurieta Reamer, Marge Urso, Ann Gallagher and Helen Patten.

Rite of Christian Burial was 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Allenton with Rev. Fr. Raymond Lewandowski officiating. Burial was in East Berlin Cemetery.
