Kathleen (Joaquin) Brandt, 93

Kathleen (Joaquin) Brandt, age 93, of Imlay City, Michigan passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Serene Gardens Assisted Living of Imlay City, MI. Kathleen “Kathy” was born March 21, 1932 in Overland, Missouri to Joseph and Alberta (Brewer) Joaquin. She lived in Missouri until she was 11 when her father moved their family to Detroit, MI for a better job opportunity. Later, she and her family moved to Almont, MI where she graduated from Almont High School, Class of 1950. She married Robert Brandt on April 6, 1951 in Imlay City, Michigan.

She was a homemaker, helping on the family vegetable farm when she could. In later years she enrolled at University of Michigan – Flint campus, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in Art.

Kathy and Bob were blessed to be able to travel and spend winter months in Florida. Besides her husband, her greatest love was for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was loved dearly by her family. Kathy enjoyed reading, her church life, traveling and volunteering at the Lapeer Pregnancy Center.

Kathy is survived by: her daughter, Karin (Dennis) King of Kalamazoo, MI; sons, Dennis Brandt of Imlay City, MI and Curtis (Theresa) Brandt of Imlay City, MI; her sister, Judi (Jerry) Harvey of Seymour, Tennessee; her brother, Joel (Martha) Joaquin of Grosse Isle, MI; and sister-in-law, Jeananne Joaquin of Grosse Isle, MI.

She is also survived by her grandchildren; Kenneth (Jane) Pennings, Ryan Pennings, April (Stewart) Shafer, James (Marianne) Brandt, Erin (Brian) Price and Kristin (Jason Chapman) Brandt; step-grandchildren, Tara (Brian) Behrman and Michael (Becky) King; great-grandchildren: Stewart II, Brandon, Alyssa, Brooke, Matthew, Logan and Scarlett; step-great-grandchildren, Andrew, Kenton, Dora, Jonathan, Laura and Carrie; and great-great-grandson, Miles; and many nieces and nephews.

Kathy was preceded in death by: her husband, Robert Brandt; daughter-in-law, Crystal Brandt; her sister, Carol Turvey; and brother, Robert Joaquin.

The funeral will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 21, 2025 at Imlay City Christian Reformed Church, 395 Cedar St., Imlay City, MI. Reverend Alex Snider will officiate. Interment will follow at Imlay Township Cemetery.

The family will be available for visitation 5-8 p.m., Thursday, November 20 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI and 10-11 a.m., Friday, November 21 at Imlay City Christian Reformed Church.
