Betty Jean O’Connor, 93

Betty Jean O’Connor, 93, of Capac, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025 with her family by her side.

Betty was born May 14, 1932 in Berlin Twp. to the late Guy and Della Miller. She married Gerald O’Connor on April 1, 1950 and spent many loving years together until his passing in 2005. Together, Betty and Jerry owned and operated a wonderful dairy farm until they retired. They moved to Florida to enjoy retirement for 18 years together. Upon Jerry’s passing on February 13, 2005, Betty moved to Capac. She enjoyed being close to family members, the senior center, puzzles, reading and her house with flower gardens. She spent her final 3 years living at Holiday Blue Water Lodge in Ft. Gratiot. There, she enjoyed the company of many friends and the caring staff of the lodge along with Homestead Home Health Care.

She is survived by her children Dorothy Smith, Christine (Robert) Jenness, Thomas (Medora) O’Connor, Jeanette (John) Tomaschko and James O’Connor; 15 grandchildren, Michael (Kimberly) Smith, Sharon Lancaster, Gregory Smith, Bonnie (Jay) Halsey, Jeffery (Denise) Smith, Christopher (Renee) Jenness, Levi Jenness, Kimberly O’Connor, Richard O’Connor, Calvin Tomaschko, Robin (Donald Mericle) Tomaschko, Mark (Brandy) O’Connor, Jennifer (TJ) Wertz, Julie (Andrew Maringoni) O’Connor and Matthew (Anna Koski) O’Connor; great-grandchildren David, Thomas, Catherine, Caleb, Shelly, Lila, Hailey, Jamie, Lacy, October, Aidan, Lillian, Connor E, Isabelle, Connor J, Nina, Devan, Cata and Annalise and four great great-grandchildren Xavier, Eleana, Zoey and Mayble.

Betty is predeceased by her husband Jerry, 10 siblings, son-in-law Robert P. Smith, and grandchildren Kathleen O’Connor and Kyle Jenness.

Rite of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac. Fr. Tom Kuehnemund, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yale, officiated. Burial will be in Capac Cemetery.
