KAY CHAPIN

Kay Chapin, 76, died the 18th of June 2025 at her home in Salem, Oregon. Her celebration of life service will be held Saturday June 28 at 10 a.m. PST at Salem First Baptist Church (395 Marion St NE Salem, OR 97301) and there will also be a live stream of the event.

Kay was born on the 1st of April, 1949 in Simms, Texas to Lenoy and Leda Parker. She is survived by her brother, Bill Parker. She married Jerry Chapin on September 20, 1969. They raised 4 children who all married and currently have 16 grandchildren by birth plus 2 grandchildren by marriage. After getting married, Kay moved to Saint Louis, Missouri then Troy, Michigan before raising her children in Almont, Michigan.

Kay substitute taught in Almont and was highly involved in her kid’s activities as well as the local church. She had a special love for horses which was from her time riding horses as a child. Once grandkids were in the picture she poured her love and time into their lives.

Kay had a deep desire to serve the Lord. She led women’s Bible studies, was a Deaconess, served as a mom2mom mentor, loved doing Operation Christmas Child boxes (especially with the grandkids), she made meals for anyone who needed it and prayed with a faith that could move mountains.

Kay’s faith is what shaped her to be a devout wife, mom and friend. She spent most of her life caring for the needs of others. She loved writing notes of encouragement, cooking meals for family and friends, spending time with grandkids and when she prayed for you it was until God answered.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry, her kids: Jason and Kristin Frieling, Jeff and Becky Chapin, Steve and Rebecca Chapin and Caleb and Melinda Blaha; and her grandkids: Peter and Kate Duttweiler, Megan Frieling, Briggs and Michaela Rybolt, Hannah Chapin, Josh Chapin, Rachel Chapin, Jake Chapin, Eli Chapin, Luke Chapin, Levi Chapin, Andrew Chapin, Nate Blaha, Maddy Blaha, Autumn Blaha, Kade Blaha and Asa Blaha.
