Yolanda Jimenez, 86

Yolanda Jimenez, age 86, recently of Wayne, Michigan, died Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Trinity Health Livonia Hospital. Yolanda Garcia was born September 4, 1938 in Taft, Texas. She is the daughter of the late Lorenzo and the late Juanita (Sanchez) Garcia. She grew up in the Imlay City area and later in life she attended Lapeer County VoTech School where she studied horticulture and auto mechanics. She married Francisco Jimenez in 1987 in Flint, Michigan. Yolanda moved to Flint, MI in 1987 where she lived for 20+ years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco, in December 2011.

She was employed as a press operator by PSI Plastics in Imlay City and had worked for Ettema Brothers Produce Farm for many years. Yolanda was a very dedicated worker and always on time.

Yolanda was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Flint, MI where she participated in Bible studies. She has also been a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she helped teach catechism classes. When her children were younger, Yolanda helped with Brownies, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. She also volunteered at the Lapeer County Hispanic Center. Yolanda loved to crochet and put puzzles together. She really enjoyed a good card game, especially Rummy and Solitaire and liked playing Spanish Bingo and Yatzee. Yolanda always loved family gatherings.

She is survived by: her daughters, Vicki (Ron) Robson, Jr. of Lapeer, MI and Jesusita (Michael) Brinker of Remus, MI; daughter-in-law, Christina Maldonado of Shelby, MI; her son, Michael (Michael Hardoin) Maldonado of Wayne, MI; sister, Jesusita Welch; and her brothers, Robert Garcia, Rick Garcia and Jose Garcia. Yolanda is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Yolanda was preceded in death by: her husband, Francisco D. Jimenez; sons, Victoriano Maldonado and Pedro Maldonado, Jr.; her daughters, Margaret Stern and Herlinda Barriuso; siblings, Lorenzo Garcia, Jr., Dolores Montoya, Maria Hinojosa, Francisco Garcia and Juan Garcia.

The Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 700 Maple Vista, Imlay City, MI. Reverend Fr. Charles Altermatt, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, officiated. Interment followed at in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

A Rosary was recited Monday evening.

Arrangements were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
