Two historic community banks finalize merger

BROWN CITY — Two of eastern Michigan’s oldest financial institutions have officially joined forces. Tri-County Bancorp, Inc., the parent company of Tri-County Bank, announced it has completed its merger with Mayville Financial Corp., the holding company for Mayville State Bank.

The transaction unites two local banking institutions with roots stretching back to the late 19th century. Tri-County Bank was established in Brown City in 1889, while Mayville State Bank opened four years earlier in 1885.

The combined entity now oversees approximately $734 million in total assets, $559 million in loans, and $631 million in deposits, based on financial figures reported as of June 30, 2026. The expanded institution operates 14 full-service locations across eastern Michigan and the Thumb region, bringing Mayville’s two branch locations in Mayville and Millington into Tri-County’s existing 12-branch network.

“We’re excited to officially welcome the Mayville customers, employees, and communities into the Tri-County family,” said Mike Ford, president and CEO of Tri-County, in a statement.

Ford assured clients that day-to-day operations will remain consistent during the transition, with customers continuing to be served at their current branches by existing personnel. Full operational integration and rebranding under the Tri-County Bank name are expected to conclude in the fourth quarter of this year, with further customer communications planned as timelines are finalized.
