Imlay City wraps up 5-0 BWAC run

TRI-CITY AREA —  Imlay City claimed a 5-3 win against host Almont in a Blue Water Area Conference boys’ tennis battle last Wednesday. 

In individual action, Griffin Wetzel gave Imlay City a 6-2, 6-1 second flight victory over Austin Machiniak; Drew Schriber fell 6-7, 4-6 to Ethan Stacer at third singles; and Joey Nerkowski dropped a 1-6, 1-6 fourth flight verdict to Carsen Cooper. Levi Lengemann provided Imlay City with a win via the default route at first singles.

As far as doubles play was concerned, Trace Dennis and Jeremy Alter registered a 6-4, 6-2 top flight victory for Imlay City  over Michael Stacer and Collin Decoster; Isaac Lindquist and Clark DeClean fell 4-6, 3-6 to Eli Bishop and Blake Boyer at second doubles; plus Tristin Detwiler and Sal Fontana netted a 6-3, 7-6 third flight triumph against Ayden Ferrett and Ty Bradley.

The Imlay City fourth doubles team of Pierce Murray and Max Guerin added a win by default.

Imlay City boys tennis sweeps Richmond in 8-0 BWAC shutout

IMLAY CITY — Imlay City handed visiting Richmond an 8-0 setback in a Blue Water Area Conference boys’ tennis meeting on Tuesday, September 22. In individual action, Levi Lengemann earned a 6-0, 6-0 top flight win; Griffin Wetzel obtained a 6-0, 6-0 victory at second singles; Drew Schriber registered a 6-0, 6-0 third flight triumph; and Joey Nerkowski prevailed by default at fourth singles.

As far as doubles play was concerned, Jeremy Alter and Trace Dennis posted a 6-0, 6-0 top flight win; Isaac Lindquist and Clark DeClean secured a 6-0, 6-0 second flight victory; Tristen Detwiler and Sal Fontana claimed a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at third doubles; plus Pierce Murray and Max Guerin won the fourth flight by default.

Imlay City boys tennis splits home quad, blanks Davison 7-0

IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City boys’ tennis team went 1-1 at a quad  it hosted last Saturday, rolling to a 7-0 victory over Davison and falling 4-3 to Utica. Levi Lengemann (first singles)., Jeremy Alter (second singles),  Drew Schriber (third singles) and Joey Nerkowski (fourth singles) claimed individual wins for Imlay City against Davison.

Isaac Lindquist and Clark DeClean (second doubles), Sal Fontana and Tristin Detwiler (third doubles), plus Max Guerin and Pierce Murray (fourth doubles) also prevailed for Imlay City. Lengemann (first singles), Schriber (third singles) plus Fontana and Detwiler (third doubles) registered Imlay City’s triumphs versus Utica.

Almont boys’ tennis edged 5-3 by Cros-Lex in BWAC dual

ALMONT — Almont dropped a 5-3 verdict to visiting Cros-Lex in a Blue Water Area Conference boys’ tennis meeting on Tuesday, September 22. In individual action, Austin Machiniak fell by a 5-7, 3-6 second flight count; Ethan Stacer netted a 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 win at third singles; and Carsen Cooper secured a 1-6, 6-0, 6-3 fourth flight victory.

The top singles flight went to Cros-Lex by default. As far as doubles play was concerned, Collin Decoster and Michael Stacer fell 3-6, 3-6 at first doubles; Eli Bishop and Blake Boyer dropped a second flight verdict; plus Ty Bradley and Ayden Ferrett registered a 6-4, 6-3 triumph. The fourth doubles flight went to Cros-Lex by default.
