Bravo, Gary has done so much for us

I really enjoyed and wholeheartedly agreed with Catherine Minolli’s column about former 82nd District State Rep. attorney Gary Howell. He was an outstanding representative for the community, and a really nice man besides.

When he was in Lansing, I appreciated how he’d keep us informed of what was going on, and what he was doing on our behalf. Jamie Greene does this also. I would sometimes email or write to Gary giving my opinion and support, especially for veterans. I also went to some of his “meet and greets” at local restaurants, to meet him in person.

One evening I was sitting down watching TV and my phone rang. I didn’t recognize the number but it came up as “State of Michigan” if I remember correctly.

When I answered, this very nice male voice said, “Hi, this is Gary Howell.” I was so pleasantly surprised that he’d take the time to phone me! He said that he was grateful that I had included my phone number on my letterhead and wished he could contact more of his constituents this way. We had a good conversation about local issues and he let me know what he was doing about them.

So bravo to this great man who has done so much for our community! I only wish we could clone him! And thank you Catherine for your well-written and column article.
