Chiefs claim homecoming victory

CAPAC — Capac saw to it to have reason to celebrate at Friday night’s end, rolling to a 34-12 homecoming victory at the expense of visiting Big Thumb Conference Gold Division counterpart Burton Bentley.

With the decision, Capac moves to 1-3 and 1-1.

In Friday’s clash, Capac bolted out to a 20-0 advantage after one quarter was done and led 26-6 at the half.

Capac then outscored Burton Bentley 8-6 the rest of the way, closing out a 34-12 victory.

The winning Capac side amassed their 34-point total aided by a Parker Lewis to Nathan Klein 33-yard touchdown pass; a Lewis to Bryce Lietz 13-yard touchdown pass (followed by a PAT tote by Preston Vamvas); a Lietz one-yard touchdown run; a Dominic Edwards 93-yard interception return for a touchdown; and a Lewis to James Owens 36-yard touchdown pass (followed by a PAT tote by Lietz).

The Capac defense registered four takeaways en route to the victory.  Jake Barbier, Kaleb Pietrzak and Edwards (an interception each) plus Owens (a fumble recovery) furnished those.

Capac will look to make it two straight wins when it travels to Marlette this Friday for a Big Thumb Conference Gold Division clash.  

That meeting is slated to get underway at 7 p.m.
