Volleyball round-up: Imlay City goes 3-1
IMLAY CITY — The Imlay City varsity volleyball team went 3-1 at the UWM Power Series on Saturday, Aug. 22.
Imlay City started things off with a 25-19, 25-17 win against Owosso. That was followed by a 25-22, 25-19 victory over Grosse Pointe North, a 24-26, 25-18, 11-15 loss to Troy; and a 25-18, 25-22 triumph against L’Anse Creuse.
Mia Zepeda (19), Evelyn Robertson (15), Millie Craven (13) and Mia-Ann Grapentin (12) posted Imlay City’s highest kill totals. Kendall Jones (33) and Isabella O’Malley (24) paced Imlay City as far as set assists were concerned. Lyla Russell (44), Zepeda (23) and Roslyn Bruman (15) notched Imlay City’s best dig outputs. Bruman (eight), O’Malley (five), Jones (three) and Zepeda (two) added Imlay City’s ace serves.


Capac goes 1-2 for the night
CAPAC — The Capac varsity volleyball team posted a 1-2 mark last Wednesday at Marlette.
Capac began their three-match stint with a 4-25, 13-25 loss to Lutheran North.
It was followed by a 25-20, 16-25, 11-15 loss to Armada and a 25-15, 25-10 win against Flint Charter Academy.
Dellah Rodriguez headlined for Capac, finishing with five kills and three ace serves.
Almont volleyball goes 2-3 at Yale
ALMONT — The Almont varsity volleyball team wound up with a 2-3 mark at the Yale Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 22.
Almont began tournament action with a 25-14, 25-19 win against Marine City. That was followed by a 7-25, 22-25 loss to Utica; a 26-28, 29-31 setback to Brown City; a 17-25,18-25 loss to Yale. and a 26-24, 16-25, 15-11 victory over Armada.
Madi Derk (25) along with Emily Howard and Aubrey Hrubetz (13 each) posted the top Almont kill outputs. Cora Wangler (36) and Nora Battaglia (21) registered the highest Almont set assist totals. Derk (45), Howard (35), Wangler (33), Kali Tencza (30) and Battaglia (11) added Almont’s highest dig totals.
