Chili Crawl tests the taste buds

Popular Almont DDA event to draw hundreds to downtown

 

ALMONT — Main St. in Almont will come alive later this month when hundreds of visitors will head downtown for the annual Chili Crawl.

The Downtown Almont Chili Crawl, sponsored by the Almont Downtown Development Authority, is taking place Friday, February 28.

“We’re excited to welcome the community back for one of our favorite winter events!” said DDA Director Angela Edwards. “Interest has been incredible this year. As of right now, only 20 of the 200 chili crawl mugs remain, and we expect to be sold out by the end of the day.

According to Edwards, this year’s crawl features eight different chili entries, along with five additional downtown businesses hosting fun specialty stations, including coffee, cookies, and even garlic knots from Roza’s.

From 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Fountain Park will once again be filled with live ice carvers and warming fire pits, creating a festive, family-friendly atmosphere. Many downtown businesses will be offering sales, specials, and giveaways throughout the day.

Edwards says, “even if chili isn’t your thing, the Chili Crawl is a great excuse to spend the day downtown – supporting local businesses, enjoying winter activities and having fun as a family in Downtown Almont.”

She went on to add, “The Chili Crawl is really about bringing people downtown in the heart of winter and reminding everyone how special our local businesses are. It’s a fun, feel-good day to explore, shop, eat and support the places that make Downtown Almont such a great community.”

The excitement continues to grow for the popular event.

Edwards explained, “We’re thrilled by the response this year. Interest has been incredible, and we’re close to selling out. It shows how much people love this event and how eager they are to come downtown and support our small businesses.”

The DDA Director says this is one of those days where downtown truly comes alive.

“Between the chili, specialty stations, ice carvers, and fire pits, it’s a perfect excuse to bundle up, bring the family, and spend the day supporting local businesses.”

She concluded, “Events like the Chili Crawl make a big impact for our downtown,” Edwards said. “When people come out, shop local, and spend the day here, it directly supports our businesses and strengthens our entire community.”
