Engage brain before wildly opening mouth
Dear Editor,
The shooting and death of Renee Good in Minneapolis brought buckets of anti ICE rhetoric by democratic party politicians across the board. Defund ICE, arrest them, ban them statements flooded print and social media.
What are lacking is much, priority being common sense and respect. When police tell one STOP! one does so. Why? Any police represent the law. If one does not respect the law one is looking for trouble. One may or not believe the law is right, but the old line ” the law is the law” still rings true and YOU will bear repercussions for not following it. And if one considers a “law” wrong, change it! While this may be extremely difficult this is the right action – not defying it. Ms. Good belonged to a group of anti ICE “by any means necessary” protesters, harass, block, nuisance, general disobedience. Blocking ICE, trying to warn illegal aliens by blowing whistles, impeding law showed Ms. Good’s disrespect. Failing to follow police orders, driving toward an ICE officer previously run down by a car suffering 33 stitches, found ICE Officer Jonathon Ross not willing to be seriously injured when her car came at him; opened fire and killed Ms. Good. As pointed out earlier things went out of control when she did not follow ICE orders. Sad the result; might not have happened, but it did.
A message: Social and print media have not tried to calm the fire. Engage brain before wildly opening mouth or hitting that SEND button. Some good thought. What do YOU think?
Sincerely,
— David Naeyaert
