Great to see Rick’s column back in the newspaper

Dear Editor,

It is great to see Rick Liblong’s column back again in the Tri-City Times. His insights, knowledge and strong historic background of the Tri-City area have always been enjoyed by readers, myself included.

I particularly liked his recent column regarding the impact that AI can have on how we share information, and how information is gathered. It was quite brave, in my opinion, for this skilled and widely published writer to turn to AI to respond to the potential dilemma it creates.

An attorney friend of mine and former boss, teaches business law at a nearby, highly respected CPA college and has shared with me that AI – and students’ propensity to use it in assignments – is among the biggest issues facing colleges and universities today. Rick’s column hammered that point home.

As a writer and former editor, I, too, am concerned about the long-term impact AI may have on how, and perhaps more importantly, what we learn – or not.
