Library thanks community for support

To our community,

With another Summer Reading Program in the books, the Almont District Library is filled with gratitude for the outpouring of support from our beloved community. This year, our Summer Reading Program had 11 events, 15 entries in our Adult Craft Contest, 21 submissions to our Almont as Art Photography Exhibit, and over 200 youth participants that read 700+ hours! What our patrons accomplished this summer with their reading, craft creations, and photography is outstanding!

Our Summer Reading Program is a community effort as all of this was made possible by generous donations from Almont Lions Club, Randazzo Jeweler, the Almont McDonald’s, and the Sterkel family. For the 2nd year in a row, the Almont Lions Club was a lifesaver from the unpredictable summer weather for our Summer Reading Program Kickoff. They donated the use of the their hall and provided water to our attendees. Thank you for the continued support and partnership!

Our Smartphone Photography Class would not have happened without sponsorship by Randazzo Jeweler. Because of their generous contribution, members of our community enjoyed a fun afternoon learning a new skill. Thank you for making this happen and inspiring some of our patrons to explore a new hobby!

With the help of the Almont McDonald’s, we were able to fill our tote bags for our weekly raffle drawings for our 12 and under participants. The kids were so excited to get their free Happy Meal coupon! You brought smiles to the faces of our youngest readers and for that we thank you!

At our end of the program party, Rob and Kathleen Sterkel wowed our patrons with delicious cupcakes and a monarch butterfly release. Every year, the kids wait anxiously to see the butterflies start their journeys. Thank you for always bringing the wonder!

Everything we do at the Almont District Library is for our community. The response we receive in return is always so heartening. We can’t wait to see what our community achieves during our Summer Reading Program 2026!
