74th annual National Day of Prayer coming up

Dear Editor,

There will be a National Day of Prayer event in our community on Thursday, May 1.

The National Day of Prayer predates the founding of the United States.

A day of prayer was set aside by the continental Congress in 1775. In 1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer, and in 1988 it was designated to be on the first Thursday of every May.

This year will be the 74th annual National Day of Prayer and the theme is Romans 15:13, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit!”

All are invited to come and join in at the Imlay City High School Auditeria, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., Thursday.

Please come in the main doors on the northwest side of the school.

There will be several community and church leaders praying for our community, state and nation!

This day stands as a call for us to humbly come before God, seeking His guidance and His grace upon us as a people and the hope we are given through Him!

Please come join us as we gather together to worship, pray and encourage one another in the Lord!

What a privilege it is to pray as a local body of believers together!
