“My solar tracker is soaking it up!”

Good Friday morning, Randy,

Just look at this sunny morning! My solar tracker is soaking it up.

Thanks for posing your question “What is it we want from technology?” in last week’s paper.

I’ve been mulling it over. My first thought was, I want technology in its place.

Take my solar tracker, for instance. It’s saving energy and cost to heat my house.

Come summer, the energy from the solar tracker will cool my house. No adverse effects to me, neighbors, environment.

I want technology to allow our babies to grow up without a cell phone in their hand.

Yet, how do you regulate a parent’s choice to use technology in such a manner?

Remember HAL in “A Space Odyssey”? How can we possibly foresee the role technocrats will play in the future?

Many of our children cannot print, write cursive, or spell.

A handicap that dilutes vocabulary, literature, communication, and creativity.

I want technology to encourage people to write with pen and paper.

Express themselves on paper to preserve for future reference and evidence of a benevolent human race.
