Flames damage home and garage

Five departments battle Dryden Township structure fire Saturday

 

DRYDEN TWP. — Flames soared into the evening sky at a residential dwelling on Belle Ridge Dr. in Dryden Twp. Saturday night.

The Dryden Twp. fire department received the call shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday, quickly calling for mutual aid from Almont, Imlay City Attica Twp. and Addison Twp. (Oakland County) fire departments.

Dryden Twp. Fire Capt. Jeff Evans said, “heavy smoke and flames were coming from the garage area when our first trucks arrived.” He went on to add, “the garage is a total loss and the fire extended into the home.”

Evans said family members were home at the time of the blaze and two people sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment. He refused to say if the victims were adults or juveniles and the extent of injuries.

Also assisting at the scene were Dryden Twp. and Almont police departments, Lapeer County EMS, Dryden DPW, DTE and Consumers Energy.

Cause of the blaze remains under investigation. Firefighters remained on scene for four hours.
