“Good must prevail over evil” in Almont
Editor’s note: Below is a letter from a concerned Almont resident addressed to the Almont DDA and Village Council. It has been shared as an informational piece to the newspaper.
Dear Editor,
I had a chance to watch the DDA meeting that was held on December 18, 2024 and I have to congratulate everyone on the board that was there!
I have never seen such a pathetic display of backstabbing in my life!
There can be no other explanation for the votes made at that meeting. You knew Chairman Roosa wasn’t going to be there to address the allegations, yet instead of doing the right thing and tabling the conversation until the following meeting, you allowed it to plow forward with encouragement.
Basically, it was very obvious what was done was only trying to silence the Chairman who has proven now many times there are improper actions being taken by Village Council and Almont Township officials for either personal gain or to hamper the DDA’s positive efforts trying to help the community.
All of you know Chairman Roosa on some level. He has stood behind a lot of you and even helped to clean up some messes both personal and professional.
Yet when someone attacks his character you all look the other way.
While you may not have liked his approach, he listed FACTS in the Power-Point. He does not put out random information for which he does not have facts or evidence.
Also, he was able to prove a Twp. official, who keeps showing up to DDA meetings with others, making false accusations about the DDA’s efforts, was in fact violating her own Twp ordinances.
And you try to penalize him? How long will all of you keep bowing down to the “Almont Mafia” when they don’t get their way on something or are starting to be exposed on their shady dealings?
How many “back door deals” have been done in this town that are yet to be exposed or investigated?
You should all know by now that things will come out no matter how well someone attempts to cover it up. You would think that you would learn from the Almont Board of Education.
The certain “good ole boys group” systematically targeted one board member after another that dared to want a school bond to better the lives of Almont’s future generations until they got their way by pressuring certain members to step down from the board.
And that is putting it politely. The board members that left are honest, good people who wanted transparency, accountability and integrity in our school.
Not unlike Chairman Roosa does with the DDA.
Vice Chairman Miller and the others, you are fooling yourselves if you think these bitter, nasty people will stop the attack on the DDA if you remove the person standing in the front line.
They want to take this town backwards as they have proven time and time again in their actions.
The Almont community and the downtown business area have greatly benefited from Chairman Roosa’s leadership and forward thinking to bring a good light on our small town.
Therefore, I would respectfully request that you strengthen your backbone, find your moral strength and stand behind Chairman Roosa by keeping him in the current Chairman position on the DDA.
Good MUST prevail against the evil trying to destroy this wonderful small town. Please show us that you want the same.
With hope for a continued better future,
