Imlay City picks up win at Almont

TRI-CITY AREA — Imlay City downed host Almont, 38-27, in a Blue Water Area Conference varsity girls’ basketball meeting Monday night.

With the outcome, Imlay City moves to 8-7 and 4-4. Almont slips to 3-11 and 2-7.

In Monday’s meeting, Imlay City jumped out to a 13-7 advantage after one quarter was over with.

They then followed it up with a 9-4 second half edge, increasing their cushion to 22-11 at the halftime break.

When play resumed, Almont bounced back with a 9-7 third quarter advantage. That closed the gap to 29-22 with 24 minutes gone.

Imlay City then outscored Almont 9-5 the rest of the way, claiming a 38-27 win when the clock zeroed out for the final time.

Alexa Lengemann led Imlay City with an 11-point performance. The Spartans also had Lexa Forti, Addison Cameron and Alexis Bruyere (seven points apiece) along with Hannah Carney and Brie Hund (three each) reach the scoring column.

Lydia LaCavera paced Almont with 11 points, including three trifectas. She was given assistance in the scoring department by Ava Panduren and Jesse Kautz (six points apiece) plus Natalia Radisavljevic and Gabby Carlson (two each).
